On and under the sea

Mauritius is ringed by a coral reef, so most of the best things to do are on the water. Sail a catamaran to Île aux Cerfs, swim with dolphins off the west coast, take a speedboat to the islands of the east, walk on the sea floor at Belle Mare, or dive the reefs off the coast. For something faster, there’s parasailing, a tube ride, or a day of big game fishing out past the reef.

On land

Inland, the island turns green and steep. Hike Le Morne, Le Pouce, Lion Mountain or the Trois Mamelles, and walk to waterfalls like Tamarind Falls and Exil. Fly over forest and waterfalls on the longest zipline in Mauritius, ride a quad bike through the forest and rivers of La Vallée des Couleurs, walk with lions, or have breakfast with the giraffes at Casela.

In the air

See the lagoons from a seaplane, on flights from 25 to 80 minutes, or take a helicopter over the famous underwater waterfall off Le Morne. And if you want the view with a rush, skydive from 10,000 feet over the north of the island.
